I like all of the stars so far this season! So no grumpies. Yet.

Audrina did very well, I thought, and had a sweet personality. Suspicions of the? judges begins right now, since I think they underscored her terribly. In the rehearsals Tony looked shocked that he had a natural dancer on his hands for once!

Brandy was younger than I thought. She was good, didn’t wow me. I liked how happy she was at her scores.

Margaret Cho was fun! Sort of sincere, modest. I thought it was a funny performance, once I knew it was supposed to be. She worked hard. As usual, Louis made an offcolor remark – he was even more vulgar on Bachelor Pad. Not my favorite pro.

Kurt Warner – way to bore me, showing your way too big, over-populated family. Shut up with your wife and too many kids. Dancing was attractive.

Michael Bolton – I felt so sorry for him! Way out of his element – just a bad dancer. And he looked so self-conscious.? Chelsie always has a kind of bored/spoiled look, as usual.

Rick Fox brought the sexy, and Cheryl is the consummate professional, and improved it! Really looking forward to more from them.

Bristol Palin was bad, but sweet. Just a normal girl, and we’d all probably do the same as her. I saw Mark actually act spontaneously for the first time in forever – he? broke down and laughed when she answered Brooke’s question with just one sentence.

Florence Henderson – careful. Much better than Chloris. (throw up)

Kyle Massey – almost forgot him. Well, I forgot him while I was watching him and the newly blonde still showing off Lacey. I couldn’t believe the judges. Don’t believe them. Carrie Anne, you look stupid trying to chair dance and look cool.

Jennifer Grey and Derek – I got tearful when she did over Patrick Swayze (and we all know they didn’t get along on the movie, but she is missing that experience), and did I see Derek shed a tear, as well? I thought she was very good, but not necessarily better than everyone. Judges, you lie.

David Hasselhoff – pretty bad, but also funny and candid, which counts for a lot. How old is he? Acts like he’s 60. Kym looks the skinniest ever – bad, actually. I think she’s at a dangerous weight.

Oops, forgot The Situation and Karina! I liked him. He seemed ready to work hard. Karina was laughing a lot, so she likes him – she flirts really well, doesn’t she?

Talking about dangerous, I don’t watch Ellen (youtube here which they don’t let you share), but I wanted to see the segment today on Riley, a dog found by climber Zak Anderegg while he was 350 feet underground, exploring a canyon cave. (Here’s his Facebook page.) Some ahole DUMPED the dog there, left him to die in the dark, underground, on a tiny little ledge.

From the Hollywood Reporter, a news item they claim is exclu. (their ridiculous made up half word, not mine.)

According to a source involved with casting, the network approached Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg to join the dance card for the show’s 11th cycle but was unable to secure him. The network also lobbied unsuccessfully for Sylvester Stallone, political commentator Ann Coulter, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, the real Erin Brockovich, billionaire Richard Branson, comic actor Tim Allen and former TV darling Suzanne Somers.

Bristol Palin, daughter of former GOP vice presidential hopeful Sarah Palin, already has been dubbed this season’s Kate Gosselin, who was famously difficult at times last season.

“Bristol was really annoyed by all the questions about whether her mom would be in the audience to support her,” the source said. “She kept complaining about the amount of press she had to do. She is acting like this is all a big pain.”

I don’t believe that about Bristol. Kate wasn’t at all difficult last season – everything we saw showed she was hesitant, maybe reluctant, and she didn’t work very hard, but she wasn’t the problem – Tony was the prima donna, refusing to listen to her, not letting her finish talking, and totally assy acting. I wouldn’t trust anything Tony says now. He’s the teacher, not the star.

patrick swayze and Jennifer grey hot - okay, superhot

Anyway, this just sounds like a disgruntled Lib. Lots of them on Hollywood sets.

But the best part of the article is the MONEY!

According to the casting source, all contestants earn equal compensation for the show, subject to their ability to avoid elimination.

With a $345,000 pot up for grabs during the 10 weeks of airtime, the source said each star makes an initial $125,000 for signing, three weeks of rehearsal before the premiere and competing in the first two episodes, even if the cast member is cut after the first dance.

The breakdown for the remaining weeks is $10,000 an episode for Weeks 3 and 4, $20,000 an episode for Weeks 5 and 6, $30,000 an episode for Weeks 7 and 8, and $50,000 an episode for the final two weeks.

The production source said contestants forfeit a portion of their salary if they fail to meet the ultra-strict rehearsal schedule.

“Initially, they rehearse six hours a day, every day,” the source said. “Then it moves to eight hours a day. If they don’t comply with the entire schedule, the network will deduct it from their paycheck.”

Disappointing, but expected to see Aaron leave. Boy, I got tears in my eyes when Len gave him that special tribute at the end, and said he was like a son! He didn’t have to do that. Someone commented that they’re not watching DWTS to see therapy, but I am!

He learned how to control himself, and that will take him far in life. And I thought Karina was about as good a teacher as I’ve ever seen her. Very focused on him.

aaron carter karina dancingMeanwhile, bratty Kelly jumps for joy when he goes and she stays. Sure, she came up to hug him after – learned that in reality TV, did ya? Whatever. I can’t see her appeal at all. I guess I should just be happy I don’t crazy hate her, like Marie, or Chloris (the show killed her, folks, not me) or the worst ringer ever, Kristi the automaton.

Aside from results, a pretty good show! Liked the singers. I was looking forward to seeing Susan Boyle. Not stupendous, but very good. I loved her dignity, and her tiny little waves, like the Queen does! And I usually don’t like many dancers besides our own, but the couple on Michael Buble’s last dance was so good! I was taken with the yellow and black costumes, but it wasn’t just that – they really stood out.

Other dancing: Tony and Chelsie not as good as with Julianne. Also, those were some weird gymnastics she was doing. Not very dancy. And the Macy’s dance…first of all, my heart sank when I realized Mark Ballas was going to dance with Sabrina. Oh, that’s funny, NOT. How can I even pay attention when I know these 2 are exes??? What idiots to vote for them both. Plus…I don’t want to dis Derek’s best friend, but I can’t stand Mark B. Watching him in the group dance last night, he just always looks like he’s showing off himself, not his partner.

Which is also why I preferred Jonathan to Maks tonight. Maks is handsome, but the look on Jonathan’s face is so loving, and his movements so caring, I just want to be there!

Geez, I really hate Carrie Anne Inaba now. I’m just so fed up with her screeching, like those harridans on So You Think you Can Dance – major reason why I stopped watching that- and her nitpicking. How does saying “you missed a turn”, or her tired old “was that a lift?” actually HELP the dancers?? It ruins the experience and sure doesn’t make anyone feel better or improve their dancing. Other comments she makes, like watch your arms, ARE helpful. Doesn’t she see the difference?

And I can’t stand the way she points out the error: ” Sorry, I can’t help it, I saw it,” with this little wince, like please forgive me, and I’m really a great girl. No, you’re not, and you’re too anal, so shut up. I do believe the judging results are fixed, especially near the end, but unfortunately, the personalities are real.

derek-hough-joanna-krupa-grove-date-07-684x1024Anyway, I think this is the weakest season of DWTS ever, but I’m still watching, because Derek Hough is still there. I’ve come to the conclusion that he is probably a once in a lifetime dancer – in the genius category. He should be winning awards in the Arts, because that’s how we are supposed to honor the best in the field. Sure, it does help that he is very very goodlooking, but I think Tony is very handsome, and Alec might be the most beautiful, yet Derek glows. (Tony is the sexiest dancer, and Alec is sexy with certain partners – not Edyta! – but Derek has chemistry with more partners, and can also solo like nobody’s business.) I hope I get to see him dance in person sometime!

Below are some tasty comments from the fascinating Television Without Pity forums on DWTS.

Derek, for all of his annoying-at-times quirks, is an awesome choreographer. I can’t deny that. Anyone else would have screwed that paso up, but it was easily my favorite dance of the night.

Derek, he likes to do the best he can, so, as is happening this season, he will drag his partner to the end even if she becomes like Goldie Hawn and Meryl Streep at the end of Death Becomes Her.

Hee hee!

The women are better than the men this year! At least so far. Part of the fun is watching things change.

I didn’t like the opening pro dance at all. At first I blamed myself: am I too boy-crazy? Do I need men in each dance? :( But thinking more about it, I think the dance itself lacked a focus. I don’t know what it was trying to say, and I can’t remember one frame from it.

dancing-with-the-stars-natalie-coughlin-and-alec-mazo-cast-pictureThe LA Times this Sunday came wrapped in a full color plastic bag advertising DWTS! (It also had their Fall Season New Shows reviews, FINALLY, but that’s another story.) I’ll include? their description on the bag before my opinion!

Debi Mazar (the actress with attitude) had a great personality, and set up a nice dynamic with Maks. I do think Maks is a little sexist. But he can laugh at himself. She was good, not the best.

Joanna Krupa (the sexy supermodel) – very pretty, not that super. She and Derek are a great team though. I think they got the highest scores of the night, and I thought their salsa was the only sexy dance so far! The only part I didn’t like was at then end of the relay, when she screamed and flopped all over. Gloating is bad manners, Joanna.

Well, it began last night, but I had to do my term paper on why the evil USDA is killing coyotes in the city of Los Angeles.

Anyway, here is a list of the new competitors this season, from People, with my comments after:

Mya, singer, and Dmitri Chaplin Never heard of her. He’s a popular hunk on the show – he’s okay.

Melissa Joan Hart, actress, and reigning DWTS champ Mark Ballas She’s from TV, right? I really don’t like Mark at all – boring, boring, boring, with a fake smile.

Michael Irvin, former Dallas Cowboy, and Anna Demidova Never heard of him. She’s the newly elected teacher. I didn’t vote for her.

Ashley Hamilton, actor, comedian, singer-songwriter, and Edyta Sliwinska Never heard of him. Edyta is…okay. Shows her privates too much. Not the best choreographer.
