I don’t think so.

Didn’t like any of the songs in Audition, and turned the sound down. Thought the new blond, quasi-Derek Hough was okay. The Filipino girl was kind of cute but didn’t like her voice. Quinn is one of my faves and she had only one line, if that, and no close ups.

The new football coach is the biggest fugly lesbo I’ve ever seen in any show, anywhere. Just an awful actress But will she get together with Jane Lynch, who outed herself this year as gay? Who knows. Typical Ryan Murphy, telling himself he’s pushing boundaries, by pushing his agenda in the face of straight people. (and picking unattractive people to prove he’s…not ugly?)

Let’s keep score on the gay list so far on the show:

Chris Colfer, Kurt, in real life and on the show. He outs himself to his father every other episode, so we’ll probably have another outing next week.

Jane Lynch, gay only in real life. I was disappointed to find this out about her, as it was so much more unusual to have a dowdy straight woman character who had given up on men.

Principal Figgins (Igbal Theba) only in real life. Outed himself years ago.

Not gay:

Matthew Morrison, (thank God), according to ELLE. I read an interview with him in the LA Times and he was ambiguous, however.

Well…this is one of the few good new shows this season, so Glee is on my must-watch list. But tonight proves what a schizophrenic show it is; it’s trying to drag in both adults and, well, all the rest of you.

glee_sexy willThey alternate between grown-up situations, like adultery (or thinking about it, as Jimmy Carter would say), compromise in ethics or one’s goals, and life -changing decisions, and for the kiddies, after school specials, problems like who gets the solo, what is “really cool”, and how to come out to your father over and over and over. (Kurt is a great singer, bad actor. Everything he says is camp, flaming, and not believable. Especially when he tries to do the loving, fashion-whore son.)

Will is the main character. He’s the teacher of Glee Club. I like that he has flaws, is not socially adept at reading people, or at least women (his wife’s non-pregnancy), and his pig-headedness. Yet many viewers complain that they wish the show would drop all the teachers. Someone show them the way towards the CW.

Also, it’s so so so gay. Not to mention politically correct. Yeah, I know, some of it’s on purpose. It’s the major part that is so tedious and repetitive.

If you haven’t seen Fox’s Glee yet, you must, especially if you like musicals. (Think Broadway, not like music in American Idol.) One of the ingredients that makes Glee different is how many minorities there are. I mean, almost everyone! Of course, most of the main characters are straight and white – so far as we know – but this is a very diverse cast. They’re all good actors, so it’s not a minority ghetto, and? LOST had a politically correct cast, too, and that worked out well.

HOWEVER. I come from a society that hates show-offs, in any color or form.? Kurt and Sandy are so over the top flamboyant. And yet…they are so charming and spot on, with great dialogue, that I love them (at times)! Kurt in particular is a strong actor (except with weak dialogue, which we’ll get to in a minute), and a great singer. Sandy rocks. And Sue sure acts butch, even though she gave the eye to Puck. She’s brilliant.

HOWEVER…What is with all the coming out? Kurt came out to his good friend last week, and this week to his father. Bo-ring. Stop with the politically correct lessons.

This outfit is spectacular. I froze the tape several times, trying to remember it. She’s backlit, so we can’t see the real color of her skirt, which was more green. I’m going to use these colors in my next cartoon!

Kurt grudgingly admitting his neuroticism and sexual preference (ie, that he’s gay) TWO EPISODES IN A ROW!! So I wondered exactly how many of the writers are gay. Turns out the main producer, Ryan Murphy, is, and also turns out that he admits in articles that this is exactly how he came out to his own father. How very self-indulgent of him to take up 2 episodes with this character doing the EXACT SAME THING!
